OmegaBetaZeta.de unterstützt das Kurzfilmprojekt „The Handy Man“ geschrieben und produziert von OBZ-Star Nicholas Downs. Die Dreharbeiten sind gerade beendet und der Film soll 2019 auf Festivals gezeigt werden. Regie führte kein geringener als JC Calciano (Steam Room Stories, Is It Just Me?, eCupid, The 10 Year Plan).

 

OBZ sprach mit Nicholas Downs über das Projekt…

 

OBZ: In Planung ist der Kurzfilm „The Handy Man“ (früher Titel „The Dream Man“). Sie haben das Script geschrieben und führen Regie. Ist es Ihre erste Regiearbeit? Wo haben Sie Erfahrungen sammeln können?

NICHOLAS: Thank you for taking the time to interview me. When I started the film I was calling it, Dream Man, but that was the working title. The new title of the film will be The Handy Man. I wrote the script and I brought on JC Calciano (Is It Just Me?, eCupid, The 10 Year Plan) to direct. We did Is It Just Me? 10 years ago and have not worked together as a director and actor since then. We are very excited to bring this project to everyone.

 

OBZ: Erzählen Sie uns doch bitte etwas über die Geschichte?

NICHOLAS: A single man finds ways to have a handsome handyman continue to have to come back to his house to fix things, even if he has to break them himself. With a little nod to Walter Mitty.

 

OBZ: Woher kam die Inspiration der Geschichte?

NICHOLAS: I wanted to create a cute, sweet, funny story that I could push to the film festivals. I came up with a few rough drafts until I struck the right balance between comedy and romance. 

 

OBZ: Die Besetzung steht auch schon fest. Können Sie uns etwas über die Besetzung verraten?

NICHOLAS: I found the other actor, Derek Ocampo, because he did a role in a movie I produced, Steam Room Stories: The Movie. JC Calciano  also directed that film and he suggested I meet with Derek and see if it’s a fit. We sat down for a coffee and the rest is history. He’s perfect in the role.

 

OBZ: Wo wird der Film hinterher zu sehen sein? Der Film wurde überwiegend durch Crowdfunding finanziert. Bekommen später auch alle die Möglichkeit den Kurzfilm sehen zu können?

NICHOLAS: To the public the film will be available at film festivals at first and then hopefully after that I will be able to put it on a platform for all to watch.

 

OBZ: Was erhoffen Sie sich von dem Film? Was soll er dem Publikum gegenüber aussagen?

NICHOLAS: I hope that it has a good film festival run in 2019 and then after it’s festival run I can put it out on a platform somewhere for all in the world to see. I hope that it gives the audience a good laugh and a touches their hearts all at the same time.

 

OBZ: Können wir noch weitere Projekte von Ihnen erwarten? Gebe es da eventuell ein Traumprojekt?

NICHOLAS: I hope so. I have a feature that I wrote with Susan Mac Nicol called, Sight Unseen. I would to see that film come to life at some point.
